Ronnie O'Sullivan was one of the top players to come through yesterday's round 3 matches at the Betway UK Championships after defeating Michael White 6-1.

The five time former UK Champion is chasing his third ranking crown of the season after having already lifted the Shanghai Masters and the English Open.

In what has been a strange tournament for the seeded players O'Sullivan is now the highest ranked player still left in the mix as the World number 4.

He made short work of Welshman White in what could have been a tricky encounter. The Rocket making breaks of 132, 64, 71 and then after a scrappy sixth frame he won the match with a break of 65.

Akani Songsermsawad of Thailand will be O'Sullivans opponent in the last 16 tomorrow. the World number 84 destroyed Barry Hawkins 6-0 to set up the encounter.

In other matches concluded yesterday Shaun Murphy and John Higgins both came through their matches with 6-3 victories over Jimmy Robertson and Yan Bingtao respectively.
