Newly-crowned African Snooker Champion Mohamed Ibrahim will be awarded a two-year main tour card from the start of the 2018/19 season. The 28-year-old Egyptian player emerged victorious from a 66-player field competing in Cairo last week, defeating countryman Mostafa Dorgham 6-1 in the final to secure the title.
It has been a very interesting World Snooker Championships thus far with a number of shock results as top seeded players tumble.
Most notably, Mark Selby, the world number one, fell at the hands of Joe Perry. Other seeded players playing no further part after the first round were other former champions in Shaun Murphy, Stuart Bingham and Neil Robertson.
