Further Frustration for Opacic
Billiards Boutique representative Suzie Opacic sadly failed to make the knockout stages.
Having lost her opening match 3-2 after leading 2-0 against Jaique Ip Wan In of Hong Kong she followed this up with a comfortable 3-1 victory over Ewelina Piślewska of Poland.
This meant she needed to beat 7-time IBSF Champion Wendy Jans in order to progress into the knockout stages.
Opacic started well and once again won the first two frames to put herself in a comfortable position.
In the third frame Jans showed her class with a stunning 110 break (the highest of the ladies event so far) to pull a frame back.
As happened against Ip Wan In earlier in the tournament Suzie just couldn't do enough to get over the winning line and lost both of the final two frames on the pink ball which meant Jans topped the group and relegated her to third.
I spoke Suzie via Facebook this morning and although she is of course disappointed she was relatively pleased with the way she played and has shown that she can mix it with the best players in the world.
Both the seniors and ladies events come to a close tomorrow where the winner of both will pick up a cheque for €6000.
