What's On in January?
Firstly, I really do hope you had a fantastic Christmas and New Year wherever you are in the world. Now that all the hullabaloo related to the holiday season has passed the majority of you will be back into the usual swing of work, college, uni or whatever it is that you do.
Going back to work after a period of rest is always a real drag but January is full of high quality pool and snooker events that mean the month doesn't all have to be doom and gloom.
Snooker is back underway with the Championship League this week, the likes of Ronnie O'Sullivan and John Higgins are using this event as excellent match practice as the business end of the snooker season starts to take shape.
Later in the month the most prestigious snooker invitational also takes place in London. The Masters is always a joy to watch and all the action will be live across the BBC so there is also no excuse!
Other cue sports also feature prominently in January with many world renowned players heading over to China to play in the Chinese 8 Ball Masters.
The IPA Tour, main professional body for the growing discipline of Blackball pool, hosts it's first ever World Series qualifiers in January. Sports are up for grabs in the Malta and Gibraltar events later in the year.
One of the biggest US pool tournaments also takes place in January, the Derby City Classic, this event features tournaments in 9-ball, One Pocket and Banks Pool across the 10 days. Results in all disciplines count towards the all-around champion.
