Ali Carter - Image from Worldsnooker.comIn what was a poignant final, considering the recent history of Ali Carter and his own battle with cancer, Ali Carter defeated Shaun Murphy 4-3 to lift the second Kreativ Dental Clinic European Tour event of the season in Furth, Germany.

The victory was Carter's first title since the 2013 German Masters and propelled him back up to number 25 in the World rankings as well as moving him to top spot in the European Tour Order of Merit. It seems that the Captain loves it over in Germany.

The win also meant he has secured a place at the Champion of Champions held in Coventry in November.

The final would also have been a special moment for Shaun Murphy who is now managed by Paul Hunters former manager Brandon Parker, Parker is the man behind the Paul Hunter Classic and has worked tirelessly to increase the profile of snooker in mainland Europe and most notably Germany.
