On Tuesday (23rd June 2015) the World Confederation of Billiard Sports (WCBS) announced that they had been informed that Cue Sports were not going to be included in the shortlist of 8 sports to be considered for inclusion in the 2020 Olympics schedule in Tokyo.
Cue Sports have made huge strides since announcing the desire to be included in the Tokyo 2020 schedule and the WCBS stated that whilst it is disappointing to fail at this stage of the process Cue Sports as an entity are stronger and more cohesive as a result.
Snooker, Pool and Carom are played by and watched by millions of people worldwide and have made great progress in recent times with regards to fulfilling the Olympic inclusion criteria.
The efforts of the WCBS, and that of the governing bodies of the individual Cue Sports disciplines, will now be focused on getting Cue Sports included in the 2024 Olympic Games.
In their statement the WCBS did wish the best of luck to the eight remaining International Federations that are now a step closure to Olympic inclusion.
