Mark Selby World Snooker Champion

I have been a bit slow on the uptake this week, the brand new website is taking up most of our time in the office, so you are already probably aware that the World Snooker Championships starts tomorrow and the full draw was announced earlier in the week.

Mark Selby is our defending champion and has been vocal about trying to break the Crucible Curse, he will attempt to do so with a first round match against Kurt Maflin.

Last years runner-up and crowd favourite, Ronnie O’Sullivan starts at the bottom of the draw against Craig Steadman who made his way through qualifying earlier in the week.

Here I am just going to submit to those that have far greater knowledge than me and point you in the direction of the snookerbacker blog, he has written a great preview piece so go across and read that now!

For those of you too lazy to check it out anywhere else the draw is typed neatly below for you.

First Round Draw in Full

  1. Mark Selby v Kurt Maflin
  2. Stephen Maguire v Anthony McGill
  3. Joe Perry v Zhang Anda
  4. Shaun Murphy v Robin Hull
  5. Barry Hawkins v Matt Selt
  6. Mark Allen v Ryan Day
  7. Ali Carter v Alan McManus
  8. Neil Robertson v Jamie Jones
  9. Ding Junhui v Mark Davis
  10. John Higgins v Robert Milkins
  11. Marco Fu v Jimmy Robertson
  12. Judd Trump v Stuart Carrington
  13. Ricky Walden v Graeme Dott
  14. Stuart Bingham v Robbie Williams
  15. Mark Williams v Matthew Stevens
  16. Ronnie O’Sullivan v Craig Steadman

March and April thus far have been completely silent on the charity bets front so I have taken two of snookerbacker’s recommended bets and placed £25 on each to see if we can add even more to our running total.

I really think Trump is in with a shout this year so have opted for him as an outright bet and then placed the other £25 on a 5 match accumulator from the first round of; Selby, N. Robertson, Trump, Bingham and Perry. If they both come home then we will be adding somewhere in the region of £200 to our charity total. So everyone, everything crossed pleased!

Who do you think will win the title this year?

NOTE: During this years World Championships you can get 10% off any spend of £45 or more, no voucher code necessary. Cannot be used with other offers and discounts and cannot be used on any pool table, snooker table, or home leisure item.
