In the version of the game that was expected to revolutionise snooker, but, other than the 6-red World Championships in Thailand, never really took off, Englishman Mark Davis has had it all his own way over the last two seasons.
The current World Number 18 makes his way to Thailand next week looking to win his third straight Sangsom 6-red World Snooker Title. The tournament uses a group stage format with the 48 players split across 8 groups. Davis starts his defence in Group A with Dominic Dale and Ken Doherty plus Ben Judge of Australia, Thor Chuan Leong of Malaysia and Ratchayothin Yotharuck of home nation Thailand.
Other notable players in the tournament also includes the 2012 runner-up in Shaun Murphy and World number 1 Mark Selby, in addition to the likes of Barry Hawkins, Mark Williams, Stephen Maguire, Ricky Walden and Stuart Bingham.
The tournament starts on Monday 1st September and runs through until Saturday 6th September with players playing for a share of the £145,000 prize money with £45,000 going to the eventual winner.
