Mark Allen Wins Paul Hunter Classic
Mark Allen continued his good form in the European Tour this weekend with a 4-2 victory over Judd Trump in the Paul Hunter Classic in Furth, Germany.
The victory pouts him top of the order of merit after having been runner-up to Mark Selby in Riga Open. This form has continued on from last season where he also lifted two European Tour titles.
The crowds in Germany are always excellent and Allen picked up the trophy and the 25,000 Euro winners prize but perhaps in his mind already is qualification for the Players Tour Championships in March which carries full ranking status and a larger £100,000 winners cheque.
The European Tour consists of 6 smaller events across the continent that not only offers invaluable match practice for the top stars but also decent prize money which is particularly important in the new World Snooker structure where players are now ranked in terms of prize money earned. The European Tour is also helping showcase professional snooker in emerging nations like Germany, Latvia, Bulgaria and Poland.
From a retail perspective this has been great as it is also opening up new markets for cues, cases and other related accessories, with more of our sales now finding there way into mainland Europe as the increase in amateur players look for quality British made products.
