Darren Appleton Shoots For Gold at World Games

Darren Appleton - World Games 2013

For many the World Games is an unheard of competition but is actually like a second tier Olympics for sports that don’t feature or aspire to feature in a fully-fledged Olympic Games.

Currently the World Games are taking place in Colombia and, unlike the Olympics, Billiard Sports feature with 9-ball, Carom and Snooker all on the event calendar.

Britain’s former World Number 1 and multiple World Championship winning  9-ball player Darren Appleton has reached the final of the Men’s 9-ball division after beating Dennis Orcullo 11-9 in yesterday’s semi finals.

Read about the World Games and view all of the events listed including the Billiard Sports at the dedicated website.

If Appleton can win the title it will be Britain’s Fourth Gold of the games and with a man of his determination and class I expect him to perform very well.

The final takes place at 11:00am Colombian time which is 5:00pm UK time. There may be some coverage via the World Games website but unfortunately I have not found it very user friendly!
