Mark Gray Wins Dynamic Austria Open

Mark Gray wins 2016 Austria OpenBritain's Mark Gray lifted the Dynamic Austria Open at the weekend to propel him to number 2 on the Eurotour rankings.

The win was the fifth Eurotour title of his career as he looks to cement a place in Team Europe for the Mosconi Cup in December.

Gray had last week one both the Pro Cup and Main event titles at the GB 9 Ball Tour in Telford and so the UK event had obviously set him up with some good form and some excellent match practice as he travelled to Austria.

Gray, nicknamed 'Granite', went undeafeated at the double elimination event in Austria and defeated Eurotour regulars like Bruno Muratore, David Alcaide and Imran Majid en route to the latter stages.

In the quarter-finals he bested German Sebastian Staab 9-6 before defeating another German Joshua Filler in the semi-finals.

The final match was a 9-5 victory over Switzerland's Ronald Regli.

Other notable performances from the British contingent include Jayson Shaw who lost in the last 32 to Niels Feijen. Elliott Sanderson who beat fellow Brit Daryl Peach to reach the last 16 and then Imran Majid who lost to Mark Gray in the last 16.
